Actually the fact that you've probably visited sites where religion was discussed increases your count of religious sites. The algorithms don't know why you were at those sites. But it's cool that religious sites help pay for the atheist site. Isn't that special!!
[Couple of years ago I was reading a news article about a judge convicted of bribery. At the bottom of the page came one of those auction site ads (don't remember which site) which declared "buy judges now on sitex.com"] Love it.
I barely notice them anyway I'm certainly not going to click on them.
I agree; let them spend their advertising money here.
Like Loren, I use Firefox and Adblock Plus (and also NoScript); it makes for a much calmer web experience!
It bothers me a little, but my thoughts are like Prog Rock Girl's. I'm glad they're wasting their time and money here. That means they will have less influence in other places.
I also agree with Loren. Firefox is a good thing to use. I'm not using it until I get my new computer because I have a few problems with it as my computer is 5.5 years old.
It doesn't bother me. They're just wasting their time.
If you mean the advertisements which mostly occur in the header of some pages of Atheist Nexus, those are unavoidable, as I understand it, because of the host under which this site is created. They key on the site material and focus, so if Christian Mingle or some other similar ad is displayed, I'm not horribly surprised.I'm also not bothered by them, as I use Firefox and Adblocker Plus, so those ads don't even make it onto my screen. Something to consider.
