God is not real and here's how I know:

1. God does not exist because theists can only make unsubstantiated assertions and flawed syllogisms to “prove” its existence.
2. Because if he did, I would have felt him in my heart by now.
3. Our observations and understandings of reality can all be explained without once ever referring to the existence of a non-physical divine being.
4. Properly critical examination of the evidence will invariably require a rational human to conclude that while there may possibly be a god, there is none-the-less no reason to conclude that there is.
5. Internal feelings are no way prove external realities.
6. The arguments for god’s existence (particularly the “gods currently worshiped by humans) are so weak that they indirectly serve as evidence that there is in fact no god (otherwise there would actually be credible evidence for his existence).
7. While no argument can be conclusively prove that a god does not exist (or magical teapot or invisible unicorns) they none-the-less prove conclusively that the god’s currently worshiped now are in fact all non-existent.
8. The historical evidence for the divinity of Christ are so weak that a historian can credibly argue that Jesus may not have ever even existed (let alone die on a cross and ascend into heaven). Tacticus appears to be of the impression that Christians were named after a person named Chrestus and Josephus’ only reference to Jesus was that he was the brother of James. In fact, the only evidence that he rose from the dead are the claims made by a handful of individuals within the bible (many if not most of which were second and third hand reports).

In my time as a theist and during my many conversations with them, I have been able to determine that their beliefs (once mine) stem not from the truth but rather from a fear of the truth and a desire to believe that their existence has some pre-defined intrinsic purpose and value. Please let me know if your reasons for disbelief in god are not present (I'd like to know them).

Rayray...It goes further and uglier than that...Benjamin Franklin introduced lightning rods in a time when most deaths from lightning were suffered by church staff ringing the bells. Franklin sold and installed the lightning rods and tried to convince churches that lightning was not an evil dark force but a nartural force that could be diverted harmlessly. Churches resisted his lightning rods for almost a century, resulting in many many deaths at the hand of "bell ringing" in a church.

Good answer Larry. Also, if I become a Christian, can I too start ignoring spelling and sentence structure to the point no one can even decipher my hateful posts?

Johnny you nailed it on the head; they are looking for any excuse to discredit us, which they believe validates their beliefs.

lol now that I read over what I said again, it made it seem like I beat the shit out of him. I bet if some bigot came poking around, they would use that to fuel his opinion that godless heathens are horrible people.

You guys should SEE what happens on some of my facebook debates!!! People jump down my throat for figures of speech or overstatements or sarcasm. They're all looking for a reason to hate me.

Johnny says: I've had "the feeling." I had the exact same feeling when I squashed a theist for a first time and watch the fight drain out of his defiant face.

That is an awesome feeling, isn't it? Warm and fuzzy and kind of like a little, tiny flower of reason struggling to sprout in a compost heap. Go tiny flower! Go!

Before lightning rods were discovered, (man's technology) lightning struck churches.

you can't really KNOW that god doesn't exist. there's just no reason to believe the absurd theory yet. Likely there will never be but you can't prove a negative.

Add to that, most every detail of Jesus' biography, deeds and sayings are plagiarized from god-man myths that came hundreds and even thousands of years before him.

I love asking Christians: If Jesus were real, wouldn't you expect his life story to be at least a little bit original?
