Gold Passes Sell out at Global Atheist Convention

David Nicholls of the Atheist Foundation of Australia reports:

We are very excited to announce that Gold Weekend Passes for the Global Atheist Convention in Melbourne on 12-14 March 2010 have now sold out!

Ticket Sales opened a little over 10 days ago. This is astounding news and some indication of the interest this conference has stirred up without broad coverage by the National media. The convention is still some 5 months away.

For some of that online and community media coverage here’s Tanya Smith, one of the convention coordinators, interviewed on JOY 94.9

I am so excited, particularly with news today that Federal MP Joe Hockey has announced his defense of God tour.

I'm so excited about the Convention! It's like Christmas for atheists! And what great presents! Richard Dawkins, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Stuart Bechman, Taslima Nasrin, Peter Singer, AC Grayling - wow! What a line up!

Also, we've just confirmed a panel of atheist feminists! AN member Tanya Levin, author of "People in Glass Houses: An Insider's Story of a Life In and Out of Hillsong", Leslie Cannold, author of "The Abortion Myth", Jane Caro, co-author of "The Stupid Country: How Australia is Dismantling Public Education", Lyn Allison, former Australian senator and former leader of the Australian Democrats political party and actress, Maggie Millar, who has starred in movies such as Evil Angels (with Meryl Streep) and numerous Australian television dramas such as The Sullivans, Prisoner (Cell Block H) and Neighbours.

Even more exciting than all these fabulous speakers is the chance to meet so many AN members in person! I'm sooooo looking forward to having a beer with Felch Grogan. I'll also enjoy meeting up with Sean the Blogonaut who came for lunch at our place one day (with his wife) and stayed for breakfast!

I am drooling at the thought of being let loose in some of Melbourne's fabulous ethnic restaurants. Oh, there is nothing nicer than eating out in Melbourne!

If you can possibly make the Convention, make the effort! It's going to be one of (if not 'the') largest atheist gatherings ever! What a message that will send about the unity and political mobilization of atheists!
