Happy Darwin Day to everyone today 12 February 2009

200 years ago, on 12 February 1809, was born Charles Darwin—who grew and matured to become one of the world’s truly great scientists.

“If only everybody in the world would avoid contact with religionists and their fictions,

and instead be educated from childhood with facts from the realm of science,

we would have a better, happier world of people believing in the truths of evolutionary science,

who would smile as much at the stupidities of pathetic creationists as at the stories of other imagined gods from history and prehistory . . .

. . . for gods exist only in the neuron circuits of the heads of their believers and have no other foundation or authority whatever.”

Happy Darwin's day to you too :)

Where would we be without him? Burned at the stake perhaps? LOL

It was a good day; I heard and saw a lot of mentions about this in the media. Of course I did hear some interviews with dimwits who don't "believe in evolution".

Truer words could not be spoken. I just schooled my son this morning on Darwin..and then sent him off to school. I told him to ask the teacher if she would tell them anything about Darwin, but he probably won't, and she probably wouldn't tell..I do live in the proverbial bible belt!!! It's a shame...

Happy Darwin day to all rational minded people in the world... His discoveries and theories played a great role in burying religious myth on fictional childlike creationist theory. I would recommend to all to read his biography. As a person he was a nice man and great keen researcher. We are proud of him.
