homosexuality biological or psychological

The fact is that if you put 100 men and 100 women on one deserted island

And 200 homosexual (men) on a second deserted island

And 200 lesbians (women) on a third deserted island, and show up in 200 years

You will find on deserted island one children and grand children.

On deserted island two you will find the remains of the 200 homosexual and on deserted island three you will find the same, the remains of the 200 lesbians.

From that, taking away heterosexual people for this planet, the only way for the world to exist will be artificial.

My understanding is not to mess with the normal biological fertilization.

After all, this is the name of the game.

The fact is that we don't have these separate islands. We have the society that we have. The one that we have created for ourselves. We need to learn to accept it for what it is right now. As for the normal biological fertilization? Yes, of course we need it and as stated earlier it is quite possible that gay people would and have interacted sexually to procreate, we are humans and we think, we would build boats. But to say not to mess with the natural order of being a human, we are way past that. Nothing we do in this modern day and age is natural. We eat crap, cram our bodies with chemicals, pump it with botox and silicone and mutate ourselves sometimes beyond belief. We have no respect for that natural order of things, we are progressive, vain and we just don't care.

What may have been the 'natural order' no longer matters in this modern society. The fact is that people ARE gay for what ever reason and we should just accept their ways instead of trying to analyse it or wondering whether or not it is right or wrong.

Is there a cure? Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Cla..... Sorry. I'll start over. Yes Yehuda, there is a cure.  Now write this down, because it's very important to get it in the exact order.

1. Cash in your life savings.

2. Send your life savings to Pat Robertson, c/o The 700 Club.

3. Now, before the electricity is shut off and you are evicted, turn on your TV to the 700 Club.

4. When Pat Robertson starts leg pressing 2,000 lbs., put your hands on the TV screen

5. With your hands on the screen, start yelling, "Praise Jesus" over and over and over again.

6. Within moments, your hemorrhoids will shrink, your planter's warts will disappear, and your halitosis will be cured.

7. If you can get enough TVs on the gay man island, and have them do steps 1 through 5, then they will suddenly have exclusive desires for female breasts and vaginas. Same thing with the lesbian island, only they'll desire male ass and penises.

Now, as to the boats to transport them to the other islands, I'm sure Rev. Robertson is working on that one.

You are right.  Truth is, without Wifi, all civilization is doomed.  And life is meaningless without coffee.  I remember, Robinson Caruso had tobacco seeds on his island, but I forget if there were coffee beans.  Then, of course, he got together with his Man Friday, and we all know where that leads.

Here's what get's me - why was the island deserted?  And why are these people being put there? If there was a disease that killed off the original inhabitants, it could still be in the soil, like anthrax.  Also, maybe it was one of those A-bomb test sites, and the soil is still radioactive.  Not a good place to be.  As for the people being put there, did they commit some sort of crime, and now they are exiled?  Or are they explorers, and how did they get there?  What will they eat?  Is the island big enough to feed 200 people?  Are there food trees?  I'm starting to worry about them, seems like very little preparation for what may be a perilous journey.

Leveni and David Raphael summed it up. Homosexuality doesn't affect fertility and most people are not 100% gay or straight anyway. Heterosexual people are not being taken away from this planet and even if they were the idea that homosexuality would cause extinction already has contrary evidence. Gays and lesbians have participated in procreation. Including gay men and lesbians having sex with each other. It may not be their first choice in sex but doesn't mean it's impossible.

There is not a cure. Psychological associations decided back in the '70s that trying to "cure" gay patients was abuse. Some religious people claim it can be cured, but this has not been scientifically demonstrated. Check out people like Ted Haggard and other religious figures/politicians who are against homosexuality and were discovered to be gay. People would not repress their sexual orientation except for this idea that it can be cured.

Things are cured only if they need to be cured. Among this 6,840,507,000 people, if a percentage of them don't reproduce it's a good thing. I don't understand why heterosexuals are still patting themselves on the back about baby-making. Take a break from it already.

Thank you for your thoughts.

My question is simple. Homosexuality - is it biological or psychological?

I do not know the answer, and that is why I share it here.

I posted my topic on December the 20th, 2011.

The most of the comments are looking for an angel is a circle.

Loren Miller tried to argument the core of the matter, yet fell short to argument by quoting from 60 minutes segment about twins. How can you establish facts based on an isolated case/s? – I do not know about you; however I live among 6,840,507,000 men, women and children as for 2010 count.

It is understood that homosexuals and lesbians can not derange the world order.

I understand the complexity in homosexuals and lesbians lives. Is there a cure?

I am not challenging your sexual orientation or toleration.

If you know about a research, a study, among humans, share it.

Given that no one is perfect, the world is not perfect, and we live with it, hopefully without causing harm.

Some, like harm, masochist for example, we are not talking about it.

The topic, the debate is, Homosexuality - is it biological or psychological?

Thank you, and happy holyday season.

What would happen if you put:

100 gay men with 100 lesbians on island number 1

200 straight guys on island number two

200 straight women on island number three.

mmmmm, I wonder?

A frankly derisory post.
Firstly, 200 gay men won't reproduce? Really?! Even if you put 200 heterosexual men on a desert island you still wouldn't find that they reproduced. Not a well thought out analogy.
Secondly, this post seems to contain thinly-veiled but widely-uninformed Christian/religious sentiments.

If this isn't the case, please clarify your points.

I might postulate that another reason for mankind's purpose - 'the name of the game' - is to learn, develop and progress. Indeed, as Hawkings has point out, the only way we will survive as a species is by populating other planets. This requires science and other logic based disciplines.

In which case, irrational, faith-based thought is holding back the human race and sentencing it to an untimely demise.

Oh the problems with this post... I assume you're a troll, but what the hell, I'll respond anyway.

1) Define normal biological reproduction. If you mean specifically in humans, say so, because there is no overall normal mode of reproduction in the world.

2) Not every human on the planet is homosexual, and that will not happen.

3) We have the capacity to artificially fertilize eggs, so the genetic material of homosexual people can still be passed on.

4) As Sentient said, we've tried the "put 200 heterosexuals on an island" thing, it didn't work out to well. What results is massive inbreeding and huge prevalence of detrimental (and possibly deadly) genetic mutations.

This experiment was done, but with heterosexuals on Easter Island.  "In just a few centuries, the people of Easter Island wiped out their forest, drove their plants and animals to extinction, and saw their complex society spiral into chaos and cannibalism."

Not really a pleasant end.  If they were mostly LGBT, they might have lasted a lot longer.

What has just been done here is a demonstration of incredible ignorance - the argument used completely demolishes itself.
