Aaaaaand....you passed it on.
Eric, hilarious!
so i talked with her about this. she pretty much ignored what i had replied and simply stated that "it's a good list for all people to abide by." i told her that we would have to agree to disagree. then she informed me of something that i was unaware of - the Catholics have their own version of the Ten Commandments. i was raised Catholic and i didn't know this. yet after perusing the list, i do indeed rememeber that version from my upbringing. how funny is it that Moses' Commandments weren't good enough for the Catholic Church. they needed to doctor it to fit into their own dogma. now isn't that just too perfect??!!
Yeah I've heard those told to me by theists as well. Sigh ...
Mr. M, please be sure to post the link for that blog post here, ok?
Jason, yes i did. i was hoping that it was part of a mass email but unfortunately i was the only recipient.
i should add, although it is not included in what i posted here, that the beginning of this email stated that this was created by our friend, Andy Rooney. i wonder if the author of the original email would have sent it had they known that Andy was an Atheist.
So Matthew, did you send your mother the same response you posted here? You could ask her to "pass it on".
Anytime anyone wants to insist that the US is somehow a christian nation, just remind them of Article VI of the Constitution and the Treaty of Tripoli, particularly Article XI of that document. Usually shuts the fools up.
(lauging my ass off)
thanks Kellie, i needed that.
I think I'm just having a nightmare. I'm going to try to wake up now.
(got cut off)
blasphemy is got rid of, there will never be any liberal science in the world." Jefferson said this: ""I have recently been examining all the known superstitions of the world, and do not find in our particular superstition (Christianity) one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology."
