So, I'm new here, and I though I should introduce myself.
My name is Johan, and I live with my girlfriend Jasmine and my cat Pixel in the south of Sweden, which is a country in the north of Europe.
I don't come from a very religious background, altough my mother together with her relatives are christians. Religion really has had no place in our lives, other than at weddings and such things that we've attended.
However, just a couple of days ago I called my mother to ask what church I belonged to, since I moved (I'm not sure about the system we have in Sweden for such things), and when she asked me why I told her I wanted to unregister from the Swedish Church. She got very defensive, stating that if I left church I also didn't contribute to the restoration of old churches and such. This is true, however I honestly do not care.
I haven't yet unregistred, but I will in the not too distant future.
Anyway, since this is an introduction I think I should reveal some information about who I am and what I like to do.
I am very interested in computers, and computer programming, and it's because of this I now attend school in the nearby city of Malmö where I study exactly that, software development. I enjoy many different typed of music, although I often prefer the various electronic genres. For some time now music hasn't been the first priority when listening to something on my portable audio player. Why? Well, I discovered podcasts! Oh, what a great thing to be able to listen to intelligent conversation, like the ones in the 'Non Prophets' podcast, which I now am a big fan of.
My biggest concern about joining a community such as this, is the fact that all of the sudden I am surrounded by enlightened and intelligent people. This, I feel, puts some pressure on me. I am kind of new to the free thinking community, so if you have any tips on what to read, what to watch, or what to listen to I would really appreciate it.
Also, any corrections or comments stating I was out of line or just plain ignorant are welcome, as long as they are somewhat respectful.
Cheers from the cold land of Sweden.
