I come here to get sound advice...I separated from my partner of six years several months ago.  She moved out a week ago.  We are still friends and still communicate with one another.  I work at a boarding school where the people here are so close that its like a home away from home or a second family.  I have the awful task of breaking this news to my students in about a week.  I'm not sure how they will handle it.  I am also a rookie at the dating game because I was not allowed to date growing up and get overwhelmed by it.  (of course I was not allowed to date because jesus was my husband until the one he appointed for me would meet me in the grocery store and walk up to me and tell me that god told him he was my husband....I'm literally laughing out loud at the things I used to believe) Any suggestions?

Yes, find a hobby. It does not matter what it is. Astronomy, photography, painting, chasing mailmen while dressed as a dog; so long as you enjoy it, and there are groups of people out there who meet up. Almost all the happy coupled people I know met through something like that.

Hey Sentient,

thanks.  I will keep moving on.  You're right.  Life does have a way of throwing this stuff at us.  Just knowing you read my blog makes me feel better because I know that there are people that care.  Thanks.

Wow, booklover...that's awesome.  Yes we are still friends.  We have actually helped each other get dressed for "dates".  Yes, my job is family oriented so my got to know her and love her. @ AnneT-our atheist group just dissolved.  I will have to look for another one.  Of course the trouble is finding a free thinker that's a lesbian lol!!  And no, no grocery store knight in shining armour. @Steph-Thanks for your support.  It is appreciated.  I tried the "gay part" of eharmony for a while but it is quite expensive or it can be.  I will give that site a whirl.  I also tried match dot com but am not ready to pay for that either.

No grocery store knight in shining armour?  How can that be?  lol.

I know nothing about dating but maybe someone can recommend freethinker match dot com or other atheist dating site? (but be careful of course.) There was some talk that eharmony is not all that atheist friendly. Have you tried going to a CFI or atheist club meetup in your town?
