Ok, so I'm new to this site, about 2 days now, and I have just noticed something a bit disturbing....

If you scroll down and look to the right hand side of your screen you will see the column called "bill payers" (I'm seeing this, anyway). In this column are paid ads posted by Google. There's one called Jesus 2020. I clicked on it and it took me to a site that wanted me to say Jesus died for my sins. There are others that are urging me to pray. WTF??? I came to this site to get away from that kind of bullshit, but it has followed me here. I'm being stalked by christians!!!!!

Who else has noticed these ads? Anyone?

Thankfully I see none of them with Firefox Adblock Plus.

Actually, click on all the religious google ads! They have to pay for each one! If they are going to inconvenience us, let us inconvenience them!

Just keep clicking away - it will cost their organization some money and we get to have a laugh.

Thanks for the counseling everybody. I needed to hear someone else's thoughts and insight on this. It is a bit funny that the advertisers' good christian money is paying for us to voice our opinions about their delusions. I feel better now, and yes, I am clicking the big green button...

I often click on the religulous ads since I assume these are "click-throughs" where A/N gets paid every time we click on one. It's beautifully subversive to have ID nonsense like cosmicfingerprints.com help pay for this site.

I don't think the administrators of Nexus actually get to choose which ads they get.

We have advertising because this site incurs expenses and takes a great deal of time to administer and promote. It has to raise funds for this somehow.

If more people donated to the site, perhaps Nexus could be more selective about advertising. Just think, if every one of our 5,000 members kicked in just 10 bucks a year each (yep, less than $1 a month), that would provide $50,000 per annum to run, market, and improve the site, and promote atheist issues amongst the wider community.

I've been to churches where people tithe 10% of their income and still donate for additional church projects. Why don't atheists put their money where their mouths are? Can't we manage $1 a month for a cause we feel passionate about and a site we enjoy using?

If you want an end to the god-bothering ads, I suggest you click that big green button just above the Bill Payers sign and make a contribution. But, one way or another, the bills have to be paid.

Haha! Yup, mine have always been a couple dating ads and some riddle that children can solve but atheists cant. The funniest one yet is the "Atheist Holiday Cards"

Yep, it comes up because your blog is about religion. Just keep thinking to yourself "HAHA, this idiot site pays Google for their space so I can have free space." If you'll notice, of the rest of the links (at least what I see) are 2 atheist dating ads, one is a scamy almost IQ quiz type thing about a "god gene" and the last one is for the Unitarian Universalist Church; an awesome church that even an Atheist would be welcome at.

I know! I see this type of crap on other news sites. Its called freedom of speech and I guess those running the nexus/Google?? do not turn down advertisers no matter who they are. I have learned not to go near any ads by Google
