OMG, yet another new religion.

First met Ryan Ballard in Colorado Springs after he was forced to relocate from New Orleans because of Katrina.  At the time he led Razzmatazz, a puppet theater workshop for at risk kids.

He has since moved back to New Orleans and is doing this:

Just one more step toward the deconstruction of religion to the absurd level of actual practice.

I’m tempted to join.

@ Emma Lennon. I loved Star Wars while growing up, but even at 11 I knew the Star Wars Holiday Special was SHITE. XD I was like, "I'm going to forget this ever happened." Luckily, in this one instance, Lucas agreed with my sentiment.

Such things as this could only make L. Ron Hubbub proud. That is, if the drunken dead can be proud.

Um, I don't know what to say about this. If any of you met me, you would soon learn that I am a HUGE Star Wars fan. But this is just insane! What's next? A cult that thinks the Star Wars Holiday Special is a work of art? (If you're unfamiliar with the Star Wars Holiday Special, consider yourself lucky.)

I agree, Pat. Although, it's sad that it takes a Chewbacchus to get people to realize how crazy things like mock cannibalism truly are.

I kind of have a different take on all this. More power to 'em. The more idiotic, and transparent this becomes, e.g. Chewbacchus, FSM, Scientology, etc., maybe this will wake people up to the realization all of these tax exemptions are ridiculous to begin with and eliminate them, carte blanche. Well, one can hope anyway.

Good Night!  I wonder what Chewbacca thinks of this, taking his name in vain and all!

As for religion as a tax dodge, I wonder why more people aren't doing that.  Could I hope it's because those who won't have more scruples?!?

Ballard's comment:

"I've been accused of being the cult leader of this little group of weirdoes, so we decided we'd just take it to its logical extreme," Ballard said. "If you're going to create a religion," he said, "you might as well make yourself the high priest, right?"
