Online Petition Against Religious Indoctrination of Children

The petition reads:

"Children have the right to their own thoughts, including their thoughts on religion. Because of religious hegemony around the world, children are herded into temples, churches, and synagogues without their consent and forced to endure dogma and superstition. The decision to take up a religion or remain free of religion belongs to an adult mind fully aware of the consequences such a decision will have. Usurping the right of a child to remain free of religion until they are adults is unethical, no matter the motivation of a parent."

You can sign it here.

After you sign, a page appears asking you to donate. This is optional. Your name and any comments appear on the petition whether you donate or not. Just click back to the first page, and then click 'Signatures' (just below the title) to check your entry.

(Thanks to Tony from Brisbane Atheists Meetup Group for alerting me to this petition.)

Except it doesn't cost you anything to sign the petition.

It's like passing out the collection plate - just put money in, pass it around and someone else will take care of the rest...

It does matter where it is sent. I totally agree with the petition but how is it going to matter if it is not sent to someone(s) who are going to try and make a difference with our signatures?

That I don't know. I don't even know if it will do any good to sign it. But it only takes a second, and I'm happy to spend a second making that cry in the wilderness.

I agree with the petition but where will it be sent?
