Okay. I tried to sucker you thinking this was going to be about prostitutes or at least the ones familiar to all of us. However, this about the so-called red-light traffic management systems used around the country and how they are full of whole for legal challenges, but to challenge the accuracy and effectiveness of these red light bandits would take oodles of time for $a $75 or $100 ticket.

Recently, I got a rolling stop at an intersection near my house. I will pay my red-light ticket without challenge as my wife continually bugging me about getting charged with a misdemeanor crime. Even though I will pay the $75 fine, I think as all such tickets have nothing to do with safety and everything to do with revenue. Of course, the city has no records of the number of accidents at that specific intersection over the past three-years, which I consider a reasonable sample. Again, all I want to know is how many straight-through accidents. (automobiles going straight through the intersection have without turning) running the light have accidents there happened there, as well as the number of rea-end collisions that occurred at the same intersection. A simple mistake landed John Glenn space capsule in the Caribbean more than 300 miles off target.

Who handles the information once it is collected? Does that company depend upon revenue from police stations across the country for their livelihood? Is the “chain of custody checked or is it left up to the company that has a vested interest in sales to the police? Does the police department dispatch anyone to assure the chain of evidence is not broken?

I also need to know where the triggers for the violation located and how long they measure after the pressure points are triggered. If the system uses lasers. I need to know the type, the location and measurement points.

Physics don’t change no matter who is thinking about it. How many feet does it take for a vehicle to stop after triggering the sensors for that light. Are the measurement exact or approximations? A simple mistake in the algorithm can make up a difference in 10 t0 30 feet. Does the algorithm consider the size of the car, the length of the car, its weight; weather conditions lens calibration, as well as velocity? Are the measurements exact? If they aren’t, what are the estimates figured into the algorithm?

All of my issue will be answer because so-called proprietary algorithms and police security Arguing a point about saving money. Since my guilt or innocence is based on the vision of a technical surrogate, in order to defend myself, I have the right to examine the chain of evidence, the writer of the software, the revenue generated at that particular point, well as the cost of the equipment.
Since I am being judged by a machine, I have to right to challenge my accuser and everyone associated with it, meaning the developers and academic record of those associated with it at the selling company. Why was the software updated? Did it correct any errors with the machines performance? What is the expertise of those developing the software? Did they graduate at the bottom of their class or the top? I would like to know their experience as I don’t what a doctor operating me who finished at in his or her class.

What happened when it the red light sensors were triggered? Was the weather considered? Is the weather, mechanical, software and human factor at the selling company? Was weather, mechanical condition or software error the cause the alleged violation? If it as an upgrade? Why was the software updated?. What is the margin for error and what is it based on? These are just a few things I like to ask but will never happen So, I’m just going to pay the fine, because I don’t have that type of time. However, I will be putting this on my insurance company. I would like to do all of these things but I don’t want, to spend my time doing something else. We all know it is a legal Ponzi scheme . it is a revenue maker for the developing company, the police, as well as the insurance company who will surely raise rates for another revenue increase.

I'm trying to get a grass-roots movement started banning red-light camera based on many of the things listed. Among those slightly mention is the collusion of police, insurance company and manufacturer. It is convenient alliance with the fox guarding the hen house, being paid in eggs, which he passes on to insurance companies who raise additional revenues by lifting rates for violations.

One of the regular dodges used with red-light cameras is shorting the cycle from green to red.  In many cases, the yellow light duration is cut from a typical five seconds to three.  This is obviously aimed at drivers who will try to skate on a yellow light and will almost certainly get caught on a short yellow.  To my knowledge, this practice has been called in multiple lawsuits, though whether the practice has been reduced by legal action or not, I don't know.

There is no secret they are about money, not safety. Chicago got into trouble because there wer statistical anomalies in the system couldn't be explained by chance.

 Some cities have been caught shortening the yellow light to increase convictions.

New Jersey is largely shutting them down, though the city of Newark wants to keep them because of the revenue stream.
