science says: abstinence-only education is a public health hazard

On his trip to Africa, Pope Benedict XVI declared that traditional Church teachings are the only failsafe way to prevent the spread of STIs. So I decided to take a look at what science has to say about it and found that not only is traditional abstinence-only education an abject failure (ex: 82% of virginity pledgers deny their pledge later and have just one less partner than non-pledgers), it's also dangerous to the public at large.
