I had a great time meeting and speaking to groups throughout SoCal. The Riverside group was amazing. 81 people attended and it seemed that all wanted to talk afterward. I didn't get back to my hotel until 1:00 AM! We went out to eat afterwards with Giovanna and Jen and had some great laughs. Check out the Riverside meetup site
http://www.meetup.com/InlandEmpireAtheists/calendar/11163844/ They have some great photos and comments on the event.
Next I went to San Diego and talked to Jason Frye's Humanist group. We crammed 48 people into a too small library meeting room, but had a lot of fun. Jason and Jennifer have a very active group. Jason planned the recent MidWest Humanist conference in Lincoln, NE and is planning another conference in New Orleans in February.
On Sunday I spoke at the CFI West headquarters in the Steve Allen Theater to 115 people. Many good questions and lots of conversation after. Bob Ladendorf did a great job of coordinating and publicizing the event. I was sorry that Jim Underdown could not be there. I was looking forward to meeting him after hearing him do a great podcast on Reasonable Doubts.
Finally I spoke to a group of 30 in Costa Mesa and met some great people I hope to see again when they come through Kansas City next months.
Next I travel to Portland, Oregon to speak at Reed College on Oct. 7 then to UC Berkeley on Oct. 30 and the San Francisco Atheists on Oct. 31. If you know anyone in those areas, please let them know. You can see the details on my book tour calendar at
