The Origin of Evil: God's Dirty Little Secret

Let us assume, for the sake of argument, that “God” actually exists.

Let us, then, go back in time; to the dawn of time; on a hypothetical journey to the time before time even began; to that time referred to in Scripture as “In the beginning”.

At a certain point during our imaginary journey into preexistence, we will come across God deep in thought mulling over the idea of creating the very universe in which we humans now reside.

A blink of an eye later and we will witness God begin the process of devising and creating the material and immaterial substances that will comprise the theist view of a super-Intelligently designed, perfectly engineered, and lovingly-created cosmos.

At an intensely critical juncture during this process, and armed with the supernatural foreknowledge of the catastrophic results that the creation of evil will bring about, God, nevertheless, will proceed to use his own free-will to not only conceive, design, and create a perfect form of evil in all its vulgar manifestations, but deliberately do so, and then move on to unleash it upon hapless, defenseless, man without mercy—when he had the option not to!

Now what could possibly be more evil?

The answer? There can be no greater evil in the world than the Creator of evil!

And one the theists cannot escape from. No matter how hard they try. They are really pinned to the wall on this one.

I should add that one of the silliest arguments I've come across is the proclamation that God couldn't possibly create evil because He's incapable of "sinning"; that he's perfect goodness.

Well, Isaiah 45:7; John 1:3; and Colossians 1:16, all said to be the divine words of God himself, point to God creating evil. And if He didn't, who did?

As for "Greywolf's Dictum": I hope to become obscurely famous for it. I don't really have much else to show for my life--other than being a proud atheist, that is. That, and putting up one hell of a fight against a really loathsome, politically well-connected, corruption-breeding scum-bag who rules my county like a Mafia Don. But it's a fight I am destined to lose, sad to say.

You sure do know your stuff, Bryan. In time the members of this community will come to realize what an intellectual "heavy-hitter" you really are--if they haven't already. And coming from the "enemy's" fold, to boot!

Proud to have made your acquaintance.

I know. I know. Rather disconcerting and discomforting, my piece, isn't it? Left me feeling rather "bad" composing it. Left me feeling sort of meloncholy. But then I started thinking about how intense and relentless the religious right is intent on turning our beloved country into a quasi-theocracy and, well, that bad feeling disappeared. I've gotta keep remembering you don't let religious fanatics carry the day.

Just remember that there is no more proof for the existence of an evil God than there is for an infinitely good one.

We humans can make the world a better place if we just work as hard as possible towards that end; each and every one of us. No need for non-existent deities for that.
