Variations on the following have just been sent to the feedback sites for CBS, NBC, and ABC News:

I may be mistaken regarding your current journalistic focus, but a bunch of ineffectual cruise missiles in Syria, then one large bomb goes BOOM in Afghanistan and any attention the media may be paying to the issue of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and alleged complicity on the part of Donald Trump's campaign seems to have been distracted.  Insofar as I'm concerned, there may be no story more important to the overall wellbeing of the United States government than that story.  Certainly it may be that a lack of new developments pushes it out of the A- or B-block, but it would help my own sense of calm to know that your reporters and producers are still investigating and have not fallen for what to me is a transparent ploy on the part of President Trump.

Diligence on the part of the Fourth Estate may never have been more important than it is right now, and I cannot see that you can afford to fall victim to the politics of distraction ... so don't be distracted, PLEASE.

No, I don’t think I overstate in that last sentence, either.  We have a madman in the White house who, whether you wish to accuse him of being afflicted with ADHD, Narcissistic Personality Disorder or dishpan hands, gives all the appearances of wanting to keep our attention on anything BUT his currently alleged dealings with the Russian Federation regarding the 2016 election.  Granted there are currently House and Senate committees running their own probes into that mess, and I would hope that the above-mentioned news organizations, plus CNN and Fox (?!?) would also be so engaged and that occasional updates could be rendered to an audience which at least should be concerned at what could prove to be a grave threat to the integrity of this nation and its government.

To date, nothing about this presidency has been normal, and no one should be treating it as such, least of all the press.

I am unhappy with our military presence in foreign countries in most cases but I realize that "war equals money" and the powers that be want to make money. This became very apparent in November of 1963. All they have left to do then is convince the American people why we are going to war, or moreover, why our "containment" is needed. There is more money to be made in war than we can make in peace. One big reason is that the world no longer needs a new "widget." The "widget" factories are all closing down and are obsolete.

Otherwise, I agree with Loren. Colluding with a foreign power is a very different matter indeed. Regardless of the purpose, secret collusion at election time borders on treason. Once again the purpose here would appear to be gaining power to make money.

My point is this: sure, both parties collude with big business, but only ONE of them may have colluded with a foreign power.  That Is A VERY Different Matter from where I sit, and should be treated as such.

I take that very seriously, Loren.

I agree with Jennifer that the Democrats also collude with big business, excepting Bernie and his faction. I'm too old to run for office, but you should consider that. I understand it's easy to run for a position representing your local community when the Democratic party conventions.

I too am uhhappy with our military presence in Syria.

I gave up on mainstream news. They have company interest first. You know it's screwed when "lefty" MSNBC is pro war.

Let me vent on the Russia narrative;

Dont you realize that the Democrats were also colluding with big companies? Hilary herself told Goldman and Sachs that she had a public and private positions and told them it was important. Russia did not release WikiLeaks, Russia did not put Hilary under indictment, Russia had nothing to do with the Democrats losing in every level of politics and becoming pushovers to the Republicans. It's time that we stop crying Russia and the election. I'm not saying that if they find something illegal not to oust him, I'm saying we should offer real tangible opposition, real policies like single payer and no money in politics abd flipping the Democrats to progressive to have the voice of the populist. I'm tired of empty platitudes from politicians. It's really tiring when I have to call my local Democrat politician in a diverse district to support policies that 80% of people agree on.

This isn't about Syria, Jennifer, except as regards Trump's attempt to distract us with it.  It is far more about RUSSIA and Trump's alleged collusion with them in swinging the 2016 election their way.

Both parties are pro Syria. We have no reason to be there.

Okay ... I"m just going to put the following up with no more comment than that Keith Olbermann has been ... well ... BUSY.

Resist.  Peace.

Loren, I'm afraid that I have to agree with your blog about a thousand percent!

To date, nothing about this presidency has been normal, and no one should be treating it as such, least of all the press.

It could be that the GCHQ provides us with at least something of that kind of independence, GC, and while Rachel Maddow may not be the most unbiased of reporters, I feel as though she conducts herself pretty well in the video I posted earlier.
