The post title is the title of a new book I just read by Sam Kean. I highly recommend it.
It's about our genes: Some history, tidbits of fascinating information (like Paganini's exceptional abilility to play the violin, thanks to his genetically deformed fingers), and the explanations of how and why DNA works the way it does.
All sorts of people are written about--Darwin, Lincoln, Mendel, John F. Kennedy, and many more. The book is a good mix of fun and science. And no mention of god!
