They're so cute when they're ignorant!

Isn't it adorable when someone on the internet thinks they know you better than you know yourself? Mind readers are the best! Here's one I found on YouTube.

I was commenting on this George Carlin video. Someone had suggested that we not use the term atheist because of its negative connotation. I suggested that we not let ourselves and be bullied into watering down our lack of beliefs. beallendall08 kindly corrected me:

"O you have a belief"

"lol", I thought. "This again!"

"Is that so? Well, I'm glad that you know so much more than I do about what I do and do not believe. Care to tell me exactly what it is that I believe?"

Here it is:

"Let me take a wild guess. You believe that one day science will develop the cure to death and aging. You believe that if you can perform controled breeding and execute those who believe in a God, that a utopia will be established on earth all in the name of peace and unity. Where I'm not sure of your beliefs, is your thoughts on right and wrong. That's where this video is so interesting when the clergy of atheism is giving the real deal on the matter."

Oh! You got me! Clever one.

I think this is quite iconic of theistic paranoia about atheists. On the one hand, their fragile little belief system leaves them insecure against contradictory views. On the other, they feel compelled to tell you that atheism is 'just another kind of religion' so that they can reduce you to their level in their own mind. So all the executing 'n shit - that's what they know enough to expect of another religion, ironically. It's actually kind of sad they cannot wrap their tiny little brains around what atheism is.

Wow... that's one of the most horrifyingly barbaric juxtapositions I've ever seen. Controlled breeding and execution of the deluded leads to... what sounds an awful lot like a religious promised land? Really?

Not that I'm completely and unquestionably opposed to controlling the rampant breeding of the fanatically religious... but seriously, do they think we're just like them? Most of us have thought about the world enough to not go in for promises of utopia.

@Jim: I was taking a sip of my coffe right when I happened to see your comment concerning 'the god on a stick guy'. I'm still wiping up the splatter. Priceless!

Interesting - especially given that most 'executing' seems to be done (and has always been done) in the name of religion... A neat demonstration of the hysterical paranoia arising from the rational thinker's nightmare that is religion...

Becky, that is somewhat disturbing. Execute those who believe in God? Where in the world do they get this stuff?
