By now you've probably heard about the "Godless" billboard that was removed after less than 3 days of being up because threats were made to the property owner. Proving Atheist discrimination is alive and well. Something the world doesn't seem to notice often, but is becoming more and more blatantly obvious each day.
What do you feel is the solution for this?
I am at a loss, it seems no matter how hard we fight for Gay rights, Pro choice issues, Atheist equality, it's just so much to do with so little recourse. Is there really nothing more we can do than wait for the evolutionary process to take its road, hopefully leading us to a more understanding, rational and accepting society?
I watch Star Trek TNG, and for any of you who also watch this you know that the Earth and human civilization are portrayed roughly 300 years from now. Mankind has put religion aside, it is no longer the driving force behind everything, it has in fact become secondary and a personal thing for each individual. Not a political/moral standpoint. I like the Star Trek world, I hope that one day we can be as civil as they are but do we really have to wait hundreds or even thousands of years for that? And even if we do wait it out, will we be lucky enough to EVER reach that point?
What do you think?
