Hello, Loren. Please check out the new group I created, Classical Masters. It is for members who love opera and classical music. Hope you can join the group and I look forward to your contributions. Thanks for the support!
I actually flew to NYC to see Glass' Ahknaten and Satygraha in their premiers but missed Einstein on the Beach earlier. A friend of mine collaborated with him on The Juniper Tree (Robert Moran.) The productions were not spare even though the music was.
I don't know that particular piece, but, in general, I like Adams' work. It's a little bit like Steve Reich's stuff of which I like some but overall prefer the spareness of Glass even in the big productions (if there can be such a thing as a spare opera.)
Loren I think where our favorite curmudgeon was coming from is a backlash against all the over the top proselytizing about the joys of S&M. Its a fetish no better no worse (within reason) then others. Lets face it alot of folks in the scene should probably shut up!
How cold did it get in your home, or do you know? I've been lobbying for a proper sized woodstove as backup here. I was in Maine and without power for two weeks during the ice storm of 1997. Feeding a tiny woodstove every 4 to 6 hours was a pain in the arse, but at least we could stay home.
Thanks for the birthday wishes Loren! I'm about to go get poked and prodded at the hospital in preparation for being sliced and diced on Friday, then I plan on living up the birthday in true Mya style(good food and drinks that is). :-)
Morning! The disappearing lady is back . . . for a few that is. :-) I hope all is well with you. It's amazing how much less time I have to be on the computer without the laptop, that thing was like an extension of my body. Toodles. :-)
