Thanks for your input on my "situation". I get plenty of Vit D in the summer from sunshine, for sure. Winter time, not so much. I do take a multi-vitamin. I should be thankful for being thin and in good health, right?!
Ruth: I AM an interesting guy! I have read and researched "tons" of information on my "problem" of weight gain in the form of muscle, not fat. Tried them all. Little success. Like I've said before, it must be genetic. At age 70, I give up. My goal is just to keep fit and strong. Not going to "kill myself" trying to build biceps. Whom I trying to impress? I'll just have to be satisfied with what I have, right?! Thanks for the comment.
Ruth, I have already and will pursue further as well. We just opened up an Atheist Hub/club house and Iwas thinking of doing a TI there, as people were interested. But, now I am thinking if TI is so Theistic, then perhaps the Atheist community would be wise in developing its own Public Speaking Education program. Ruth, thanks for the reply and best week end. Hi ruth, thanx fir your welcome and comments, your right of course, but that is relatively meaningless to me,there is no way that I would use that word other than in a debate of said subject or as my little parting ditty.I hope that you havent been threatened in that way,I had a wee peek at you page and I have to say that your Feking AWESOME,taters...
Ruth, That may be other than what I am implying, sorry about that. The Theists may have and may still be infiltrating Toastmasters International, not sure to what extent, and it may only be the club I was a member of. FFRF leadership is good. I was more interested in whether anyone else may be aware of other TI Theists infiltrations into TI clubs Nationally and or Internationally. Since TI is also open to out side participants, I was surprised that they purposely eventually invited a previous Pastor in, and interestingly enough, he moved up the clubs leadership roles quite quickly. I am thinking in as much as the clubs meetings were held on Government property and used State resources, printers, network, computer resources etc., more or less as an excuse to violate separation of Church and State. It might be something Nexus may be interested in being aware of. My interest in joining TI at that club was to hone my knowledge's of Public speaking and also test some of my own ideas in regard to the non-existence of Deities and find out if they made sense. There were a few other Atheists in the group too, but when I found out the Theist leadership was other than following through with recoding speeches, for me in particular, it just avoided feeling correct. On the one hand I also saw it to be a chance from the perspective of an open forum to share ideas from a variety of public Speaking venues, Organized discussion, Debate, and learning Robert Rules of Order, for example. But, it became more and more obvious, all they wanted to do was share their testimonies and prayers, and songs. It really became like attending a church service than a TI moment to be sure. Although that may have been good for them, many good feeling moments, there was an absence of really taking advantage of the finer Public speaking tools TI offers to its members. I also felt even if they were doing what I thought they were doing, it was of some value for them to have a chance to hear themselves babble on in their reinforcement of their ignorance's, and maybe at some points of interaction, I'd get my 2 cents worth in. But, it became more and more evident, their was no intent to exorcize any of TI's real values to personal growth. leadership, and or speaking tools. It really was just an excuse to hold religious meetings on and or during State working hours. And I am into discussing Theistic premises with Theists, openly, and that was even purposely avoided. So, basically it was a kind of movement on their part from a variety of angles, having nothing to do with what TI is all about. I was able to thwart the leadership that existed prior to my joining the clubs attempt to move up into the highest rankings of TI, like National Officership, and that may have upset them, and that person in particular at one point told me to stop bringing in new members while I was VP of Membership, a training role to say the least, and I couldn't figure out why he would do such a thing since from the inception of the club, there had only been 7 members, and within 3 months time I was able to bring the membership up to 47 members, and he/they were looking at having to hold 2-3 meetings a month, with sub-TI meetings in the morning, maybe, noon and nights. The club president had been President for most of the time before I joined, and I kept feeling I was stepping on his toes, but not sure what his and the previous members problem with having more members was all about. Then I found out the founder of the TI club and IT itself and associated members were all Theists, and that was just as the Theists were making their moves into the Government on all levels from Washington to all levels of State and or local venues, the Carter into the Bush era's, and the TI Club appeared to be just another invisible move on there supportive maneuverings during those years. Anyway, just wondering if Nexus was aware of that possibly being just another part of the Theist movement, from the Pope and the
Hi,just responding to your comment,I think your asking about the little ditty in my "about you comment" wen I signed up,if its about the pope the word is RAPE,it b how i torment believers and n e one on facebook,it is aimed at the pope so dont be offended,I havent had many chats with fellow athiests and are still in twat mode,i may tone it down but only if your not offended. If im told to censore myself i shall not comply, sorry that was a horrible end comment,LIVE FREE,THINK FREE,RAPE THE POPE...
Just found the Latest Activity - and we just re-activated a/an FFRF here in Denver. Looks very well organized. Great new leadership. Intrusting enough, the new leader has/is Toastmasters International roots, and I have found that organization has turned Theist, such if you are an Atheists any leadership avoids recording Atheist speeches etc in the club I was a member. I contacted the home base, and they had no records of me ever even being a member, dues paid, speeches - nothing. May be more my clubs responsibility, but after 10 plus years one would think the upper management would at lest have looked into it. All they ever wanted to do was Evangelist, and the mere mention of doing organized discussion. debate and or Robert Rules of Order was ignored. Finally figured out why. Totalitarian entrenched organizations/members really avoid wanting to discuss, and or debate issues, i am thinking. Ignorance is bliss. Much more to that story, but looks like an excuse for theists to do religious meetings on Government property, and during working hours. Anyway, great site so far. Lonnie
Hi Ruth, I am still here doing my thing. It's nice to know that you are hanging in there spreading the word. I will check out the site that you mentioned and see what you are talking about..thanks for the heads up.
I will continue to support Atheist Nexus but I will also split my time between different sites dealing with the Secular Humanist issues also.
Not going anywhere, so don't write me off...lots of love and best wishes
Hi Ruth thanks for your welcome to the atheistnextus. I can see that I have a lot in common with a lot of people here. I'm active in the secular / humanist area in Australia and will enjoy a bit of lively debate. I generally write short stories and poems with and environmental and or atheistic thread. You might like my poem entitled 'Bills caught a virus is it it Just love' about the Dawkins virus on my web site. Its written in an Australian 'bush poetry' style which may be a bit different to what you're used to but hopefully entertaining all the same. My short story The Demon Hunter is a scifi with an atheistic twist.
Thank you very much for the welcome Ruth! I'll be certain to look at the links you provided. I have indeed joined a lot of groups - maybe too many, but I really like the look of the community and am excited to get stuck in!
