Thank you so much for the welcome! I have perused a portion of the list of groups so far, and I'm sure I will find many of interest. Looking forward to learning my way around here.
Thank you for welcoming me to the group. My first degree, in one of the premier atheistic sciences geology, is from King's College, London (1973). I have had many debates with the religiously afflicted, none of whom will look at scientific evidence or listen to reason, so I hope to learn some way to be more effective in helping stamp out this virus. I look forward to reading some interesting discussions.
Thank you for the warm welcome and the invite. I majored in astronomy and physics in college, so this is an amazing group for me. I can't wait to learn my way around the site and join in the wonderful discussions! I have been looking for a bastion of rational people with critical thinking skills for a long time now. I think I found it.
Dr. Meadon...Thanks for your warm reception...I am presently getting ready to leave Florida for Maine where I spend the summer...I look forward to becoming more active following the seasonal move. I very much enjoy watching lectures and debates with Richard Dawkins by the way!
Thank you for your invitation, Dr Meaden. The description of your discussion community indeed appears to cover many of my interests.
Dr Neil Tyson's homage to Dr Sagan's "Cosmos" has reawakened my layman's interest in science and the intricacies of the natural universe and I look forward to participating in reasoned discussions on these topics.
Thanks for the kind welcome. I got here via a search for amateur radio atheists. Listening to Christians on 14 MHz is a dispiriting experience! I look forward to many years of community.
having just read your line that "gods exist nowhere but inside peoples' heads", a belief i have come to share, i find myself wondering if you don't know what "a meme in the noosphere" means, certainly your skepticism that i am an atheist is off-putting and confusing….
isn't "inside peoples' heads" somewhere in existence? i believe that it is and delight in the irony that now that i've gone from youthful anglican deist, to longtime fence sitting agnostic, to out and out atheist, i can in truth prove that god exists, if only as a meme in the noosphere….
like light being both a wave and a particle, or an electron appearing to be everywhere at once, common sense must sometimes bow to the truth of paradox????
