Greetings, Heather! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus since April. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
I saw your recent post on NC Atheists and had no helpful advice, but wanted to mention that one of my friends on facebook posted your group's billboard today! I'm glad I now have a face behind it. Also congrats on the booth at the pride fest, I hope some of my LGBT friends from UNCG saw it.
Cause they look pretty cool :) Many parts of Australia have very few indigenous people (aborigines), and most of the stuff the tourists see is probably atypical, though my parents do get kangaroos (practically) in their backyard (their property adjoins a nature reserve) :D
Regarding the $$, I'm guessing you think it's funny how colorful it is - I have heard from other Americans who compare Euros and AUD to Monopoly Money since they're used to plain ol' greenbacks :)
Next time you go on a trip to somewhere new, why don't you ask around the Nexus to see if you can get some freethinking locals to show you around? I know I'm going to do that when I get around to travelling - might even be able to cut costs a lot that way (tourists often get ripped off lol) :P
Yes Heather. I see your point regarding 'moral high ground'. It was just that I do not see how god-believers can claim the moral high ground any better--especially those who do so when starting from the absurdity of the deficient Ten Commandments. Thanks for the comment.
Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 8000 good friends.
A useful group is “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion....) with its 125 discussions and numerous video films.
One discussion (over 70 posts) is "Proud to be Atheist".
There's much to feel good about
because atheists and humanists hold the moral high ground—far removed from the superstitious god believers who submit to a narrow-minded controlling clergy with their imaginary heaven and hell.
