I somehow came across one of your comments which mentioned Alison Krauss. Her "Wayfarin' Stranger" blows me away (Union Station group)! Yeah, it is "religious", but I look beyond that. I'll check on your reference.
Hello. I am new to the nontheist site, and it appears many members are very young. That is sort of cool, actually, but I was pleased to read your profile. I am 62. My mother was the daughter of a Congregational Bishop and on her death bed confided to me she didn't believe all "that nonsense" about heaven and hell. What a weight off of my shoulders, as I also was a non-believer by then.
I show American Paint horses as a hobby. I live in northern Michigan. We have had snow already! It didn't stick but is cold and frosts almost every morning.
My parents visited your country in the 1970's. My mother said it was the most beautiful country she ever visited, and they traveled around the world. Unfortunately, she bought into the "vacant land" theory of white colonization.
Is religion pervasive in your government as much as it is ours? It reminds me of the old serfdom ideology of soothing the wretched masses into accepting their fate as they will be the ones to go to heaven, not the wealthy.
I am a retired school social worker. Our schools are in big trouble right now due to tax cuts starving the public services. I got out at the right time, but it still saddens me. I am happy my child is out of school. It is not a good situation.
Well, thanks for reading, I am enjoying the site. It is comforting to know there are lots of folks out there that believe in science and not mythology. I've always felt on the outside looking in. --Wendy
