Yeah, I agree about eating healthy vegan food. When people find out I'm a vegan they often start asking about what can I eat and assume that my choices are limited. Actually, in my opinion, vegan diets are often much more interesting and I don't feel limited at all.
Glad to meet you. I actually live in Seymour, but I work in Maryville. I dont know how long it has been since you last visited but Maryville has grown quite a bit in the fifteen or so years I have lived here. It seems that everything within a 30 mile radius of Knoxville is just a suburb of the city.
Hi! I've been a vegan since 1996. Before that I was an on again/ off again vegatarian all of my life. As a child, it just seemed wrong to me to eat other beings. But as I had little choices, I ended up reverting several times until college. Once I did more research into the meat & dairy industries, I was convinced that veganism was the way to go.
My parents were very smart and got nursing home insurance 40 years ago, and paid it up faithfully. I don't know if this option exists any more. I think that in my Moms case, it's costing them more than she paid in, but we still add some on top of that.
If his medical insurance pays for a social worker, they might be able to identify some resources for you. What a difficult situation for you...
I think it's special! My mom's dementia has progressed to the point where she doesn't know who I, or my dad, is. SHe can no longer say words. She is spoon fed. She's getting great care, and I really respect the wonderful people who are caring for her. On the down side, the care center is religious based, but there dont seem to be any non-religious based places in her town, and even if there were, I would still choose the one that is the cleanest, brightest, nicest, for her end of days, regardless of affiliation.
Thanks for the invite. Nice website! It must take being a strong person to be out as athiest in Georgia - at least that's my unproven preconception. I'm ovo-lacto veg, for 30 years, have been vegan off and on but adding some eggs or dairy is a compromize.
I have to admire anyone who takes care of people with dementia. IT takes a special person to do that.
