That's all that is happening in Australia that I know about,

Though you probably already know this much from your own sources.

Thanks for the entertainment.

keep up the great work!

Though there is one issue in Australia regarding religion, the government is allowing church based Chaplains to perform student counseling in the public schools as since it is church funded and controlled, the government just states it is cheaper for the government that way.

Yet we know by their stated aims that it is really about getting children back into churches.

This is the only battle we are having with religion at the moment.

Because if we become too settled and complacent there is a danger of a revival of religious fundamentalism when our country becomes involved in a crisis.

As history has demonstrated.

You know yourself that when the US suffered severe crisis in the middle 19th century, people were desperate for something to cling to and this saw the rise of fundamentalist new age movements such as Jehovah Witnesses and Mormonism, under a salesman and a depraved womanizer.

Such could happen in a secular community that doesn't keep watch.

Hey Matt, I'm from Australia and really enjoyed your exchange with Sye Ten Bryggencate. I'm enjoying some of the excerpts from your show, and admire your knowledge and wit.  Though here we are a very secular, open community and us Atheists have sort of disappeared into the woodwork. No hassling from Theists, means we have no reason to stand up and be counted. Such is what happens when a society becomes secular, we all settle down as equals.  Jumping up an shouting I'm an Atheist here is like pissing into the wind, I'm the only one who would get drenched by my own urine.  Nobody seems to care.  Yet I have friends I debate with in the US and my current debate with a devout Theist is on Oral Tradition in the Bible is Reliable, where I'm in the Con seat and I cannot find any sources saying it is unreliable apart from highlighting the contentions in the Gospel accounts of JC.

Do you know of any sources I can access or any of your clips covering this in any of your callers.

Thanks for any Assistance:

Hello Matt.

I knew of your show, but never watched it until this week. You are now one of my heroes. I'm in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (Close to Toronto).

But you do have a problem when you do your show -- your problem is in this example:

Picture a (6) foot step ladder, this is the ladder of knowledge, you are reaching for the top rung, but I would say you are probably somewhere between the second & first rungs from the top.

The majority of your callers, are well ... you know that place between the ground & the first rung on the bottom, these callers are continually banging their heads on the under side of the first rung.

You are knowledgeable & you seek to spread some of that knowledge, even to those who still cling to their Bible, as if it were not simply a story, but as the truth - through Blind faith.

Please keep up the great works!!

Hey Matt. Remember me? Are you still willing to fight the atheist corner on UK's Premier Christian Radio? Here is the e-mail address to contact the presenter. It would be so cool if you would do it.

Why isn't the bible relevant today?  Why can't we pick and choose the parts that are relevant to today?

Matt, I hope you had fun at the American Atheist shindig. When is this book you have been working on going to get done?

Hi Matt, greetings from Singapore.

I love the Atheist Experience and Non-Prophets. I look forward to downloading and listening to every podcast. I also credit your show for finally giving me the courage to declare that I am an Atheist. I was born Catholic, but I've always questioned my faith and felt guilt over my lack of faith. Now after listening to the wonderful podcasts put out by you and your team, I don't feel guilty about not believing anymore, and one great bonus out of all this is that I'm not afraid of the dark/supernatural anymore!

Please keep up the good work.

Huge fan here Matt - over the past few months I've listened to the last 2 years of TAE and the complete NPR archives, top stuff :D

Sometimes I almost wish I was there in Tx - here in my corner of Australia the religious stupidity mainly seems to happen in government, I sometimes wish I had something less removed to rail against! Yes, I actually WANT someone to try to proselytize to me :P

Anyhoo, keep up the excellent work, I might see you in the IRC chatroom at some point :)

Hey Matt,

I have finished a book about my atheist experience and I am about to submit my proposal to The University of Oklahoma for publication. If you are willing or know someone that would be willing to read a portion of the book please have them contact me with their name and address so I can pass that along to the OU Press. Yes I know it is OU but at least they are taking my transcipt. I went to Kansas State actually.

"We Are All Connected", quotes auto-tuned from deGrasse Tyson, Feynman, Nye, and Sagan. It was all over The Friendly Atheist and Pharyngula, but I daren't risk you guys not hearing it.

I DL'd Carl Sagan's Cosmos on iTunes for less than 30 bucks, I recommend it to everyone. He is messianic in my eyes... his curiosity, his scientific honesty, his idiosyncrasies.... I suppose I am committing some sort of True Scotsman fallacy, but if everybody were a little more like him, I'm convinced the world would be a better place.

Hey Matt! I'm Kristy. I co-host the Aussie, Kiwi and South Pacific Atheists group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne next March.

It's going to be huge - one of the largest atheist gatherings ever. We're expecting nearly 3,000 delegates and we've booked Australia's premiere convention centre, The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre for the event.

Speakers will include: Richard Dawkins, PZ Myers, AC Grayling, Peter Singer, Dan Barker, Stuart Bechman, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

We want to make this a truly international event and we'll be capitalizing on the large numbers to make a very loud statement that atheists are uniting and mobilizing politically.

I wonder if you and your team could give us a little publicity on The Atheist Experience and also let your Austin Atheist Community know about the event.

If you need more information, the official media release is here, or just contact me at avalonbythelake at yahoo dot com dot au .

Hi Matt, you mentioned you were a member of Atheist Nexus so I looked you up. I found your stuff on YouTube and I think it's great. You really are something special and I think you need to get about a bit more. You deserve a much wider audience than just Austin, though that seems to be happening through natural processes. I hope that I can remember some of your stuff when I talk to religious people, usually I'm so gobsmacked by the bizarre things they believe that I'm speechless. Their ignorance is so bottomless I don't know where to start. There really has to be some way of getting you to Melbourne next March for the atheist conference.

Hey Matt, love your work. Im a huge fan of AE and the Non-P's. I have adopted your great questions for all the religious debates I have with people in my imagination. They help me win EVERY TIME!!
Keep up the great work. Thanks for challenging me and many others to think critically. From Honolulu, Aloha.

Matt is a great guy based on what I have seen on the internet and what I feel he is trying to do. He is awaking the the sleepy conscious or sub-conscious of people who have been intdoctinated into an idea of higher power which is evil and petty. Thank you for your wisdom and your questioning of all the claims which have been thrown at you and by helping me realize a better way to see the world through reasoning and understanding.
