Greetings, Db0! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. You might feel more at home.
Meh, I'm pretty happy with the way things are going at the moment and I don't actually see the need for self-hosting. With the number of pageviews that I get, I would have to pay Dreamhost more than the amount you mentioned on my blog.
I am not ruling out self-hosting, but if I do I would use MT. (Just an issue of familiarity rather than some serious flaw in Wordpress or anything of that sort...hehe.)
Thanks! Facebook is still my main social networking site, but since this is dedicated to atheists, I may find myself spending more time here if I can somehow feel compelled to do so. I've got a MySpace (I hate that site now) account that I only check up on from time to time, to keep in contact with people who don't have Facebook accounts.
As I mentioned before, I'm a technological retard and by some mysterious reason I haven't been able to sign in at "get satisfaction" to respond to your answer regarding the "groups" section.
So here is what I think:
Whatever methods of categorizing or tagging you implement would be better than how the "groups" section is being organized now.
Yes, I concur with what you said about people creating similar groups just to be "leaders"...that behavior I find to be ridiculous & immature but I guess there's nothing much that can be done about it. That said, if the "groups" section is disorganized then some people who may not want to start similar groups on purpose might miss seeing them because, as is human nature, they won't have the patience to scroll through all the group pages.
What were your thoughts regarding the "subscribing to blogs" issue? I really want to subscribe to a few people out there cause, quite frankly, my mind isn't set in learning those people's names and remembering every once in a while to check and see if they had posted new blog entries.
