The Last Question

Posted on October 28, 2010 at 9:09pm 1 Comment

I was just reminded of Robert Heinlein and his stories about a theocratic dictatorship in a future U.S., which got me to thinking about all those other writers from the so-called "golden age" of science fiction. Then I noticed a discussion elsewhere regarding the discovery of exo-planets. Then somehow Isaac Asimov's wonderful short story "The Last Question" came to mind. Considering it was written in 1956, one can forgive the portrayal of Multivac and the rather erroneous conjecture about the… Continue

On a certain public site (which shall remain faceless), there are comment threads supposedly about atheism.
I felt compelled to write this.

Even tho I agree with France's burqa ban, as I stated in the thread I see France in a different light than other countries. France's immigration quandry is a direct consequence of their moronic colonialist behavior in N.Africa. To an extent, they "deserve" the backlash that's happening today, just as the USA, England, Belgium, Italy, Germany, all were colonial powers in Africa last century. You reap what you sow... but Sweden... Canada, we have not been traditional colonial powers... yet, we are guilty of modern day commercial imperialism, which I think is merely a notch below... I feel that in all equality, Africans should have fought harder and longer against whites, just as whites should be expected to defend their culture in their own countries. All in all, what most annoys me is state dishonesty for the sake of profit. Without greed we would all be happier humans.

Hello David
Welcome to this friendly meeting place with atheist freethinkers who recognise that fictional gods and devious religions have always been deceiving and controlling vulnerable people besides indoctrinating defenceless children;
----and how tragic and inexcusable it also is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and longer.

Terry Meaden
founder of the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Evolution, Darwin..." with its 310 discussion topics.
We invite you to join us and 1800 others.
