This is not my video, however, it caught my attention in YouTube and I thought that it was an interesting point of view.

I'd always just assumed the vast majority of atheists supported gay rights too. Then I discovered the internets.
You've also got to look at where the guy is talking about. Freaking YouTube.
If there's a worse place to look for rationalism than the comments of YouTube, I'm not sure where it is. You also have to take into consideration the glee with which a great number of religious people will lie to try to make a point. e.g. Claiming to have once been atheists, or to currently be atheists when someone points out the only reason they hate something is because their stupid religion tells them to. How many times have you heard "I was an atheist too, once..." when they were nothing of the sort?

How true, there was a time when I assumed all atheists would share most of my ideology. Youtube has proven to me however, that atheists, as you've stated, hold widely differing views on other topics. There are many young atheists that seem to be atheist because it's different, to rebel, or for many other reasons. There is little examining of evidence and coming to a sound conclusion on the existence of a deity. They often are as poor at defending their position as most religious people are at defending theirs. I would propose that it is mostly these pop-atheists that are the gay haters, not the college educated or priorly religious individuals that have converted to atheism.

I am glad you brought this up, because I was not aware of it. I am not homosexual, I am an Atheist and I wholeheartedly support gay rights. Perhaps the animosity by some atheists is fueled by being lumped together with homosexuals by homophobic theists. (Somewhat like the resentment some Democrats felt towards the Gay Rights Movement, after the re-election of Bush.)
