The Book of Job always struck me as an interesting or at least peculiar conversation. Here's my spin on it.

Hey Loren thanks for watching. Your post got me to get out my trusty old NRSV bible...turns out the wife wasn't killed (I thought she was), she just kind of disappears from the narrative, and then at the end Job gets the same number of kids back that he had before...maybe it's the same ones?! Zombified?
Look, Yahweh ... you made a bet with the devil because you liked how I brown-nose you all the time, and the devil thought he could break me. Well, you know what? He didn't. I kept up with the fatuous praise because that's how I was taught as a kid, even though now my wife and kids are dead, my cattle and other possessions are gone and I personally look like the result of the acne from hell attack. All fine, well, and good. And now you get all bent out of shape because I'm asking WHY? Sure, you can give me a new wife and new kids and new possessions and all that ... but my wife (whom I loved, by the way) and my kids (same notation) are still dead ... and I get the sneaking suspicion that they won't get restored. What Did THEY Do To Deserve That?!?
