Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may not be an atheist, but as it comes to the issue of State / Church separation, she has just surprised the daylights out of me (most pleasantly!) with a very powerful statement she has recently made regarding the behavior…Continue

Viruses Don't Watch FoxNews (Betty Bowers)

The above is the kind of headline which would likely send the Orange Nightmare into a royal hissy-fit ... but then, in addition to all the line-items outlined in the following video, viruses don't read, either!  Yes, I'm afraid that, once again,…Continue

Once again, America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers finds it necessary to saddle up and call the soi-disant Christians of the current era on their apparent lack of anything resembling behavior that the carpenter-turned-rabbi would find even remotely…Continue

bending truth, or "We Can All Be Manipulated" (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Grinning Cat Jan 30. 44 Replies

The following is one of TheraminTrees' most thorough-going pieces, wherein he looks at the process and techniques whereby a "religious" organization (which will sound VERY familiar to most of us, once introductions are made!) takes a person who…Continue

I've been having a busy few days. Thursday, a Leonard Cohen tribute event/concert at the local library, Friday some live, old-school blues and Saturday a Mozart opera. Very nice too.

One of the very first cases of COVID-19 in DK turned out to be a doctor at a large hospital, just returned from a conference. 30 patients and workers are now in isolation.

Randy, welcome back; what parts of California did you visit? Did your family members migrate from Indiana?

Plinius, sorry to learn you had the flu! Hope you fully recovered.

Ruth, sorry you, too, came down with the flu. In spite of all the precautions we take, we still face the risk of the disease.

The present threat of coronavirus indicates we have to quarantine ourselves. The first U.S. death from COVID-19 occurred this morning in western Washington State.

Plinius, I am so sorry I missed your birthday; I hope you had a very special day and the coming year promises wonderful feelings.

Leap day, five storms here in Februari, the first corona patients in the Netherlands, and we're trying to build a jungle of houseplants in this apartment. I hope you're all well. Any news?

Take care of yourself, Ruth! Do you play and laugh enough? I always see you handling the heaviest subjects...

Sorry I haven't been posting much. Thought I'd caught the flu, but it turned out to just be a cold plus bacterial secondary infection. Taking antibiotics, taking it easy. Not many little grey cells working. Mostly watching TV. It's depressing that I caught that just going to a doctor's waiting room and grocery shopping, and I was trying to sanitize touch surfaces like the scooter handles (but not doing a perfect job).

Thanks for being here, All!

I know how you feel, Joan. Happy to see you are content. Me, too!

Ian, I am far too blessed to be depressed! I have my outrageously wonderful family, my splendidly wonderful virtual friends here on this site and the many groups of AtheistNexus. a comfortable room with a view into the forest across the meadow, and pets that exude love from their noses to their tails.

I only wish all men and women of my age had such sweet pleasures!

Glad you're returned safely. Welcome back, Randall.
